Patient Success Stories

“I will never forget the day that my husband told me that he didn’t want to be married to me anymore. I remember calling my best friend and she told me that I had to call Dr. Jessica. I made an appointment that same week and began seeing her on a regular basis for about a year and thanks to her, my friends and my faith I was able to get through a very difficult time in my life with grace and dignity. I still today have people ask me how I handled myself so well. They say that they wouldn’t have been as “nice†as I was and for that, I credit Dr. Jessica for helping me handle my divorce as amicably as I did. I am now pleased to report that over six years later, I am happily married to a wonderful man that would not be in my life if it weren’t for Dr. Jessica. She is a one of a kind counselor. I have also had the privilege of referring her to many people, just as my friend did to me.â€

“If someone were to look in the dictionary at the definition of what a mental health therapist is, Jessica would be right there. A mental health therapist is so many things to so many people and I think Jessica is all of those things to all of those people. In order to be an effective therapist one must be wise and very knowledgeable, very caring and very loving and genuinely concerned with every human being who comes to discuss with them, very emotional problems. I have considerable experience with therapists and I had never had the good fortune of being involved with such a fine therapist, prior to meeting Jessica.â€

“I first met Dr. Gurvit after being diagnosed with Schizoaffective Disorder and met with at least three psychiatrists and many different therapists. I was actually referred to Dr. Gurvit by one of her Doctoral Students who worked with me while I was being treated for Schizoaffective Disorder. In some ways, each of the psychiatrists and therapists viewed me through this label and their treatment plan was based on this diagnosis. I will always remember my first session with Dr. Gurvit and looking back, my healing began during this session. Yes, Dr. Gurvit was well aware of my diagnosis but Dr. Gurvit was even more aware that I was a human being that was in pain, a human being that was hurting, and a human being that had very low self esteem. In addition, Dr. Gurvit also observed my unique strengths and treated me as a whole person. I could tell that Dr. Gurvit valued me as a person and wanted to help me because she truly cared about helping me have the best and highest level of existence that was possible. When I spoke, Dr. Gurvit listened with both a professional ear and an open heart. I could literally feel Dr. Gurvit listening with love.

Today, I still have Schizoaffective Disorder, there are days when the desire to live is a significant challenge and days when I’m simply tired and overwhelmed. Thanks to the sessions (meetings) with Dr Gurvit, there are also days that I am alive and aware: days that I can feel the flow of love in the Universe and truly desire to have the most meaningful existence possible.

Dr. Gurvit helped me create a space for healing and filled this space with kindness, compassion, love, and sensitivity. Ultimately, Dr. Gurvit simply allowed me to be me and this allowed the healing to begin and continue to this day.”
